Blackwater is the label of Francois Haasbroek, formerly winemaker at Waterford in Stellenbosch. Continuing my fatal fascination with local Pinot Noir, I was compelled to buy a bottle of his Cuvée Terra Lux Pinot Noir 2011, R165 a bottle from Manuka Fine Wines in Somerset West and was pretty impressed.
Wine of Origin specified as “Cape South Coast”, it shows red and black cherry and a hint of musky perfume typical of the variety. It’s clean and pure with gentle acidity but could do with a tad more structure and tannic grip. Score: 15.5/20.

I’d be very interested to hear what you have to say about his 2 white wines.
From barrel samples alone I’d add at least a point to the 2012.
