Fleur du Cap Unfiltered Chenin Blanc 2015

The maiden vintage Fleur du Cap Unfiltered Chenin Blanc 2014 sat at a stylistic extreme in terms of how imposing it was (see here) and the 2015 is again a big wine. On the nose, a top note of honeysuckle before lemon and white peach plus spice and some leesy complexity. The palate appears sweet […]

Fleur du Cap Unfiltered Sauvignon Blanc 2015

From dryland vineyards in Darling, the Unfiltered Sauvignon Blanc 2015 under the Fleur du Cap label is old-school. Cut grass, fresh herbs, lime and grapefruit on the nose while the palate is rich and thick-textured with coated acidity. Forceful but not particularly charming. R106 a bottle. #WinemagRating: 86/100.

Fleur du Cap Unfiltered Semillon 2011

With the Cape weather not yet mild enough to make Sauvignon Blanc an enticing proposition, I thought I’d opt something rich and textural like a wooded Semillon with a bit of age on it. A 2010 from a leading Constantia producer under cork unfortunately showed premature oxidation and I therefore took no further chances and […]

So what’s the deal? Grapes were sourced predominantly from Cape Agulhas; maturation lasted 12 […]
